Visual Cancer Communication on Social Media: An Examination of Content and Effects of #Melanomasucks

Generally, the number of likes and comments are considered indicators of the range of influence of one’s social media post [33]. There is sparse published research investigating the content characteristics predicting likes. Burgeoning research has examined the predictors of comments, focusing on the number of comments from readers of Web-based news [33,34]. In this study, we focus on likes and comments responding to user-generated content containing #melanomasucks.
