Patient Adoption of Digital Use Cases in Family Medicine and a Nuanced Implementation Approach for Family Doctors: Quantitative Web-Based Survey Study

Patient Adoption of Digital Use Cases in Family Medicine and a Nuanced Implementation Approach for Family Doctors: Quantitative Web-Based Survey Study

Building on the insights of a rapid literature review on patient acceptance of 4 digital use cases, we leveraged an existing questionnaire assessing the acceptance of electronic health records in family medicine based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model [20] and adapted it to the other use cases. The objective of our convenience sample approach was to gather a cross-sectional sample of adult patients living in Germany.

Medical Students’ Acceptance of Tailored e–Mental Health Apps to Foster Their Mental Health: Cross-Sectional Study

Medical Students’ Acceptance of Tailored e–Mental Health Apps to Foster Their Mental Health: Cross-Sectional Study

The UTAUT evaluates the acceptance of technological systems consisting of 4 primary predictors—performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FC)—and has been adjusted to investigate the acceptance of e Health interventions along with their underlying factors [23-25]. Numerous studies have used the UTAUT framework in the context of e Health interventions among different samples [32-35].

Acceptance of Virtual Reality in Trainees Using a Technology Acceptance Model: Survey Study

Acceptance of Virtual Reality in Trainees Using a Technology Acceptance Model: Survey Study

Beyond the conventional variables of the TAM, the United Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model adds socioenvironmental variables such as social influence and facilitating conditions as predictive factors [23]. UTAUT proponents believe that the lack of these factors in conventional TAMs limits their generalizability and instead opt for models that also include UTAUT social variables [23,24]. Despite VR’s therapeutic usefulness, widespread clinical adoption is lacking.

Exploring Acceptability, Barriers, and Facilitators for Digital Health in Dermatology: Qualitative Focus Groups With Dermatologists, Nurses, and Patients

Exploring Acceptability, Barriers, and Facilitators for Digital Health in Dermatology: Qualitative Focus Groups With Dermatologists, Nurses, and Patients

Overarching constructs were deductively based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model (Textbox 1). The UTAUT model aims to explain the acceptance and usage of technology and is based on 4 major constructs: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and social influence. Another relevant construct associated with the model is the attitude toward using technology [35].

Predictors of Health Care Practitioners’ Intention to Use AI-Enabled Clinical Decision Support Systems: Meta-Analysis Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology

Predictors of Health Care Practitioners’ Intention to Use AI-Enabled Clinical Decision Support Systems: Meta-Analysis Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology

The proposed hypotheses were based on the UTAUT model and existing empirical evidence. With this meta-analysis, we make 4 major contributions to theory and practice. First, we used meta-analytic techniques to estimate the relationship between the predictors of the UTAUT and the intention to use AI-CDSSs, thus providing insights into the applicability of the UTAUT to the context of AI-CDSSs.

Successful Electronic Consultation Service Initiative in Quebec, Canada With Primary Care Physicians’ and Specialists’ Experiences on Acceptance and Use of Technological Innovation: Cross-Sectional Exploratory Study

Successful Electronic Consultation Service Initiative in Quebec, Canada With Primary Care Physicians’ and Specialists’ Experiences on Acceptance and Use of Technological Innovation: Cross-Sectional Exploratory Study

The UTAUT model is considered to be one of the most effective [117] models, and it has been tested and empirically validated in several fields and in different contexts such as health care in order to study the determining factors in acceptance and use of a technological innovation. Moreover, the UTAUT model can explain up to 70% and 50% of the variance in intention to use technology and actual use of the technology, respectively, representing a high predictive power [100,101,104].

Use Intention and User Expectations of Human-Supported and Self-Help eHealth Interventions: Internet-Based Randomized Controlled Trial

Use Intention and User Expectations of Human-Supported and Self-Help eHealth Interventions: Internet-Based Randomized Controlled Trial

Other important expectations that may influence the use intention of human-supported and self-help e Health interventions can be found within the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) [16]. According to this model, 3 different types of expectations explain people’s intention to start with an e Health intervention.

Acceptance of a Web-Based Intervention in Individuals Who Committed Sexual Offenses Against Children: Cross-Sectional Study

Acceptance of a Web-Based Intervention in Individuals Who Committed Sexual Offenses Against Children: Cross-Sectional Study

To study acceptance and its predictors, research on web-based interventions for general mental health often uses the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as a theoretical framework [15,16]. The UTAUT states that the use of a technology can be predicted by acceptance. Acceptance is thereby defined as the behavioral intention to use a technology.
