This recommendation followed the findings that more than half of those surveyed [39] would take more responsibility for their care if their health care provider encouraged them to. However, only one-tenth of the respondents [39] reported having been recommended any digital tools to manage their care. It has been argued that despite initial reservations from patients, typically arising from a lack of confidence or knowledge, “it is incumbent on providers to foster [patients’] self-reliance” [7].
