Using WhatsApp for Nutrition Surveillance Among Children Under 5 Years in West Java, Indonesia: Cross-Sectional Survey and Feasibility Study

Using WhatsApp for Nutrition Surveillance Among Children Under 5 Years in West Java, Indonesia: Cross-Sectional Survey and Feasibility Study

According to the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (Survei Status Gizi Indonesia) in 2023, the prevalence of children with stunted growth in Indonesia in 2022 was 21.6%, thus similar to the global burden [1,6,7]. To accurately describe a population’s nutritional status, particularly the at-risk groups, establishing a nutritional surveillance system becomes pivotal [8].

An Image-Recognition Dietary Assessment App for Adolescents With Obesity: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

An Image-Recognition Dietary Assessment App for Adolescents With Obesity: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

E4 W is an image-recognition app that uses proprietary algorithms to analyze photographs of meals and snacks to determine their nutritional components. The nutritional intake is displayed in a way that minimizes the focus on calorie counting, with detailed nutritional components sent directly to the dietitian via the Clinician Portal without being visible to the patient.

Nutrition-Related Mobile Apps in the Spanish App Stores: Quality and Content Analysis

Nutrition-Related Mobile Apps in the Spanish App Stores: Quality and Content Analysis

Furthermore, the primary aim of many apps was to record and analyze food intake (n=20, 48%), followed by providing nutritional plans or diets (n=9, 21%), advising on healthy habits (n=7, 17%), and offering recipes (n=6, 14%). General characteristics of the nutrition-related apps included in the study (N=42). The nutritional and health functionalities of the apps included in the study are described in Table 2.

Quality, Usability, and Trust Challenges to Effective Data Use in the Deployment and Use of the Bangladesh Nutrition Information System Dashboard: Qualitative Study

NISs can play a key role in shaping policy and programs for improving the nutritional statuses of populations and can guide nutrition programming integration into the routinely provided health services [3]. However, the bottlenecks that plague HISs broadly also impede the effective use of NISs. Disjointed efforts to improve the availability, accessibility, quality, and use of health data have limited countries’ ability to use data for health decision-making and problem-solving [4].

Effect of a Web-Based Nutritional and Physical Activity Intervention With Email Support (the EDDY Program) on Primary School Children’s BMI Z-Score During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Intervention Study

Effect of a Web-Based Nutritional and Physical Activity Intervention With Email Support (the EDDY Program) on Primary School Children’s BMI Z-Score During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Intervention Study

The combination of PA and nutritional education is most effective [17]. Additionally, parental involvement in nutrition and PA [3] interventions is crucial to promote healthier lifestyle behavior. Since parenting practices and parent-child interactions are formative in children’s health-related behaviors, studies suggest that interventions with parental involvement are more effective [18].

However, the magnitude of the effect on each disease may be small, and nutritional studies are inherently limited by recall bias. Typical treatment includes antifungals in combination with anti-inflammatories including topical corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors. However, long-term use of these corticosteroids can cause adverse effects, such as telangiectasia, and current treatments cannot eliminate this chronic disease.

Cardiovascular Comorbidities in COVID-19: Comprehensive Analysis of Key Topics

Cardiovascular Comorbidities in COVID-19: Comprehensive Analysis of Key Topics

It is also interesting to note that the Me SH term “Nutritional and Metabolic Diseases” ranks second. In continuation, we focus on the first- and second-ranked Me SH descriptors in Figure 3 B. To describe the disease terms in more detail, we repeat the analysis at the second level of the Me SH disease tree. Again, we separately calculated the proportion of items with a given LV2 disease descriptor and the relative importance of these descriptors within COVID-19 articles related to comorbidities.

Effects of Food Depictions in Entertainment Media on Children’s Unhealthy Food Preferences: Content Analysis Linked With Panel Data

Effects of Food Depictions in Entertainment Media on Children’s Unhealthy Food Preferences: Content Analysis Linked With Panel Data

The consumption of highly processed products that are high in fat, salt, or sugar but low in nutritional value (ie, minerals or vitamins) is contributing to the development of overweight and obesity and therefore can be categorized as unhealthy. The overrepresentation of these foods in audiovisual media content is indeed worrying [18].
