Effectiveness of Telehealth Versus In-Person Informed Consent: Randomized Study of Comprehension and Decision-Making

Obtaining informed consent (IC) supports the successful recruitment of participants and the overall success of research studies [1]. However, obtaining IC faces challenges related to the cost and time to travel to and from the study site, geographic barriers in rural or remote areas, and literacy barriers [2]. Lack of obtaining IC leads to delayed enrollment, low retention, and engagement rates, and increased costs for additional resources [3].
