To explore the evidence timely, recent reviews [16-18] and researches [19-22] have explored the issues of online presentation, self-discrepancy, as well as online identity reconstruction in the social media and virtual world with reference to the impact in human and social development as well as well-being.

In some cases, patients have forgone treatment because improper categorization conflicted with their gender identity [2].
Medical care providers may conflate gender and biological sex. Growing awareness and inadequate terminology for transgender patients have led to changes. In December 2021, the Food and Drug Administration streamlined the i PLEDGE process and introduced gender-neutral terminology, allowing for the separation of a patient’s biological sex from their gender identity (Figure 1).

This theme explored LGBTQ youth identity development and management through the use of social media strategies for identity expression, accessing information, and censorship. Subthemes included the use of anonymity and privacy settings, sharing and validating identity development experiences, and the disclosure of identity. These strategies focused on methods to avoid conflict and protect well-being [27,34,51,57].

Finally, LIVIA 2.0 includes a module focused on identity and memory processes that play a key role in adapting to loss [32,33] as well as novel emotion regulation tools [34,35].
In detail, the development of LIVIA 2.0 and its innovations were based on the theoretical and empirical literature about grief and romantic dissolution. On the theoretical level, we relied on one of the most influential models of coping with loss, the DPM of Coping with Bereavement [30,31].

Speaking the language of an identity by using terms and arguments associated with that identity may render a more persuasive message [35]. Framing the advocated action as identity-consistent can further encourage individuals to adopt the desired behavior [34] because once an individual knows how others with the same identity act, it is easier to convince oneself to act in that same manner [1]. Thus, identity-framed messages are more persuasive than general messages [35].

Identity formation has become more than just a developmental step—it is a valuable resource needed for coping with the demands of individualization in a successful life [8,9].
Despite many theoretical approaches, a joint definition of the terms individualization and identity, as well as their interrelationships, is often missing. In this study, individualization is defined as an orientation of action that moves away from social or collective rules and toward person-based choices [10].

Studies in relation to smoking behavior have shown that stronger smoker self-identity (ie, thinking of the self as a person who smokes) predicts fewer quitting attempts [31,32]. People are committed to behave in line with their self-perception of identity and, therefore, behavior change and identity change depend upon each other [33].
By experiencing positive feedback on daily habits, new beliefs about one’s identity can be formed.
