Therefore, establishing the correlation between the gestational week of first fetal movement awareness and interoception could serve as an evaluation index for interoception in pregnant women and may predict mental problems. However, to our knowledge, no previous study has examined the association between interoception and the gestational week at the first fetal movement awareness in pregnant women. Thus, in this study, we aimed to clarify this noteworthy association.

An Hb A1c test at the first prenatal visit has been recommended for those at risk of developing gestational diabetes only, including having obesity and having a family history of gestational diabetes, but not yet for the general population of pregnant women [11,15,16]. In this prospective cohort study, we aimed to evaluate whether Hb A1c levels in pregnant women without diabetes are associated with a subsequent SPL risk.

Gestational weight gain (GWG) refers to the gain in body weight during pregnancy. GWG can be measured as total weight gain over the course of pregnancy or the rate of weight gain over a specific period (eg, in a week or in a month).

Gestational weight gain (GWG) is currently assessed by comparison to recommendations provided by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) [1]. These guidelines are based on prepregnancy BMI, such that GWG falling below the recommended range is considered “inadequate,” and GWG above the recommended range is considered “excessive.”

Pregnancy-related conditions including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are independent risk factors for future cardiometabolic disorders (CMDs), including type 2 diabetes mellitus and CVD [3-7]. Pregnancy is a time of increased receptivity of women to behavior change [8].

During pregnancy, gestational weight gain (GWG) is essential to ensure the development of a healthy fetus [1]. However, GWG below or above the recommendations is associated with an increased risk of negative pregnancy outcomes and neonatal conditions or complications [1-6]. Epidemiological data in over 1 million pregnancies globally reported GWG below or above the recommended thresholds in 23% and 47% of all pregnancies, respectively [7].
