Screening Workers for Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica: Development and Usability of an Electronic Data Capture Tool

Screening Workers for Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica: Development and Usability of an Electronic Data Capture Tool

The disease has been recognized globally for over 100 years, and lung disease screening is recommended for high-risk industries, including mining and construction [2]. Cases of silicosis were identified in 2010 among workers in the stone benchtop (countertop) industry (SBI) working with artificial stone (AS; Textbox 1) [3-12]. Subsequently, a number of cases of artificial stone-associated silicosis were diagnosed in Australia [3,13]. AS has a very high crystalline silica content, often over 90% [14].

Construction and Application of a Private 5G Standalone Medical Network in a Smart Health Environment: Exploratory Practice From China

Construction and Application of a Private 5G Standalone Medical Network in a Smart Health Environment: Exploratory Practice From China

First, based on a requirements analysis, this study introduces the overall architecture, functional design, core technologies, and security mechanisms involved in the design and construction of the 5 G SA network. Second, the construction and functionality of the 5 G network are implemented to achieve the objectives outlined in the requirements analysis. Finally, the performance of the proposed 5 G SA network is evaluated through an investigation of 3 representative applications.

Investigating Health and Well-Being Challenges Faced by an Aging Workforce in the Construction and Nursing Industries: Computational Linguistic Analysis of Twitter Data

Investigating Health and Well-Being Challenges Faced by an Aging Workforce in the Construction and Nursing Industries: Computational Linguistic Analysis of Twitter Data

Older construction workers made frequent reference to specific medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease. Younger construction workers posted about nerve pain and neuropathic pain, likely related to the physical nature of construction work. For the LIWC analyses, tweets were grouped into those that did or did not contain health and well-being keywords. In Multimedia Appendix 10, we present the basic LIWC summary variables.

Using a Virtual Reality Tool to Provide Primary Prevention Training in the Construction Field Following a Periodic Medical Visit: Cross-Sectional Study

Using a Virtual Reality Tool to Provide Primary Prevention Training in the Construction Field Following a Periodic Medical Visit: Cross-Sectional Study

The VR training tool used by the SMIBTP is a serious game entitled SRC-Bâti VR (Vi Rtual Création), which aims to improve the occupational risk prevention skills of construction workers using VR digital simulation. SRC-Bâti VR emphasizes the co-activity aspect of construction sites and therefore the interaction between employees with very different workstations.
