Visualization Techniques of Time-Oriented Data for the Comparison of Single Patients With Multiple Patients or Cohorts: Scoping Review

However, the visualization of cohorts is different in terms of how data are aggregated in time and value. For example, cohort data in clinical trials comprise data that are usually provided at specific time points (number of visits or days aligned for a baseline event) and, in most cases, are represented as statistical values (eg, mean or SDs). Comparisons within single patients or within cohorts may seem trivial as the same visualization technique is applied for each.
