A Symptom-Checker for Adult Patients Visiting an Interdisciplinary Emergency Care Center and the Safety of Patient Self-Triage: Real-Life Prospective Evaluation

Symptom-checkers, which enable medical self-triage, have recently been introduced for this purpose. Such tools could assist the increasing number of persons without ready access to a primary care physician, for example, migrants or young persons who had been previously healthy. If implemented in settings outside the hospital, that is, at home or work, tools for efficient and safe self-triage could help avoid unnecessary emergency hospital visits, thus contributing to reducing overcrowding and costs.
