Given the popularity of GANs for image synthesis, researchers turned to exploring the use of GANs for data augmentation of lung radiology images. Many studies were conducted to use different variants of GANs for data augmentation of lung CT images and lung X-ray images. Similarly, a few studies also used GANs for the diagnosis of COVID-19 from lung radiology images.
