The data basis for all 284 prison locations was a list from the justice portal of the federal and state governments from 2020. After geocoding and referencing the locations, they were loaded and mapped in a geographic information system in Arc GIS v. 10.8.1 (ESRI). As a proxy for accessibility, physician density was compared to correctional facility locations.
