In these models, we assessed the ability of commonly used administrative data, newer predictors from the electronic health record (EHR), and 2 manually assigned stroke-specific scales (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale [NIHSS] and modified Rankin scale [m RS]).

Hence, a highly interactive e-learning module was created to teach the NIHSS [21]. Its use has been shown to improve user satisfaction, knowledge acquisition as well as dissemination in NIHSS-naive populations, when compared with the traditional didactic video alone [22,23].
Despite widespread usage of the NIHSS, little literature exists on the actual performance of HCPs using it on a regular basis.

The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS; Multimedia Appendix 1) is the most frequently used stroke scale by stroke physicians and stroke nurses today [5]. The NIHSS has been considered too complex and time-consuming and, therefore, less suited for prehospital use [6,7], and consequently, most prehospital scales are the modified and shortened versions of the NIHSS [8,9].
