Quality Assessment of TikTok as a Source of Information About Mitral Valve Regurgitation in China: Cross-Sectional Study

We utilized quantitative scoring tools such as DISCERN, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmark criteria, and the Global Quality Score (GQS) to conduct this evaluation. We also evaluated the educational guidance provided to the audience using the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool for Audio-Visual Content (PEMAT-A/V) method. No clinical data, human specimens, or laboratory animals were involved in this study.

The Readability and Quality of Web-Based Patient Information on Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: Quantitative Content Analysis

The JAMA benchmark criteria were established to determine the credibility, reasonability, and utility of medical information on the internet. Each website was graded as either 0 or 1 for the categories of “Authorship,” “Attribution,” “Disclosure,” and “Last updated” by evaluators, resulting in cumulative scores ranging from 0 to 4. A higher JAMA score is reflective of a higher-quality material. Further details of each JAMA criteria are presented in Textbox 1.

Quality of Information in Gallstone Disease Videos on TikTok: Cross-sectional Study

The quality of the information in videos was assessed using the DISCERN instrument, the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmark criteria, and Global Quality Scores (GQS). The DISCERN instrument was developed for judging the quality of health information on treatment choices [19]. It includes 16 questions categorized into 3 sections on a 5-point scale (Multimedia Appendix 1).
