On April 13, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration recommended a pause in use of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J)–Janssen COVID-19 vaccine due to 6 reports of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis in recently vaccinated individuals [1]. The announcement of the pause required development of a coordinated communication strategy under extreme time pressure and careful messaging by stakeholders to mitigate reduced public confidence in COVID-19 vaccines [2].

According to the 2006 guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on HIV testing, all individuals aged 13-64 years should be screened for HIV infection as part of their routine medical examinations. Individuals at high risk should get tested annually [4]. The World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Program of HIV/AIDS recommend that health care providers offer patients opt-out HIV testing and counseling.

To help inform the public health response to COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created the COVID-19 Science Update [2].
The COVID-19 Science Update provides brief summaries of new COVID-19–related articles on topics such as health equity, vaccines, variants, natural history, and testing, among others [2]. To provide the most relevant and timely information, the COVID-19 Science Update includes both published (peer-reviewed) articles and manuscript preprints.

The China Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are professional institutions that conduct health education and health promotion work for the public. In order to broaden health communication and make it easier for users to obtain information, the China CDC opened the Chinese disease control dynamics WOA in April 2014 [13]. Most of the provincial CDCs have now opened WOAs [14]. Generating user engagement is vital for effective information diffusion and health promotion.
