Arellano-Bond dynamic panel data estimates of the number of daily COVID-19 infections reported by country in East Asia and the Pacific region from April 28 to May 12, 2023a,b.
a Wald test: χ26=730,275, P≤.001.
b Sargan: χ2540=24, P=.99.
c Contains estimates from the model in equation (1).
Figure 1 plots the novel surveillance metrics over time, from the start of the pandemic up to the WHO declaration in May 2023.

South Asia’s COVID-19 History and Surveillance: Updated Epidemiological Assessment
This study provides updates for the original study by Welch et al [6] for traditional surveillance data and dynamic panel estimates [40,41,46,47]. For the region of South Asia, the data comprised an unbalanced panel of 8 countries and territories, running from August 14, 2020, to May 12, 2023.

Overlapping Delta and Omicron Outbreaks During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Dynamic Panel Data Estimates
Omicron, or B.1.1.529, the latest SARS-Co V-2 variant of concern (VOC), was first sequenced in Botswana in early November 2021 [1]. South Africa reported Omicron to the World Health Organization (WHO) on November 24, 2021, and the WHO designated it as a VOC on November 26, 2021 [2,3]. Early reports of Omicron from South Africa alarmed infectious disease scientists due to both its rapid spread in the population and the high degree of molecular divergence in the spike protein [4,5].
