In a survey, a majority (59%) of young people reported learning about suicide from web-based sources [15]. Young people who report that they engage in STBs also report that they have been exposed to web-based, suicide-related content [16,17]. Incorporating search data into the assessment of STBs confers a number of advantages over traditional clinical assessment methods.
