An Image-Recognition Dietary Assessment App for Adolescents With Obesity: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

An Image-Recognition Dietary Assessment App for Adolescents With Obesity: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Each cycle consisted of 6 task-based scenarios that were developed using standardized guidelines [22] and evaluated for likes and dislikes, satisfaction, and suggestions for improvement through semistructured interviews and completion of Acceptability E-Scale (AES) questionnaires [23,24]. Based on recommendations [25] and previous team experience [26], each usability cycle included 4-6 adolescents and 2 HCPs, with 2-3 cycles to identify and resolve issues [19,27,28].

Carbohydrate Counting App Using Image Recognition for Youth With Type 1 Diabetes: Pilot Randomized Control Trial

Carbohydrate Counting App Using Image Recognition for Youth With Type 1 Diabetes: Pilot Randomized Control Trial

Testing consisted of 4 scenario-based tasks that were developed using standardized guidelines [17], a semistructured interview, and app acceptability measured by the 5-point Acceptability E-Scale [13]. The focus for the task was on user performance (ie, ease of use, navigation among screens, functions, errors, and efficiency); the semistructured interview and Acceptability E-Scale were focused on overall satisfaction with the app.
