Characterizing the Rural Opioid Use Environment in Kentucky Using Google Earth: Virtual Audit
Neighborhood audits via Google Earth and in-person took place within a larger study that examined the influence of the risk environment on opioid use among young adults (aged 18-35 years) in 5 counties in rural Kentucky through a partnership between the University of Kentucky and Emory University. These counties were chosen in the parent study because of high levels of nonmedical prescription opioid use, overdose, and poverty. Neighborhood audits were conducted between July 2017 and August 2018.
