Blood samples were collected into prechilled K2 EDTA vacutainers, following protocol instructions, including the preparation of vacutainers with DPP-IV inhibitor (10 µl/ml of blood) for active GLP-1, before centrifuging at 2000 revolutions per minute for 15 minutes at 4 °C. Plasma was then pipetted into prechilled, aliquot tubes labeled by participant number, analyte, visit, date, and sample number, and immediately placed on ice and transferred to a –80 °C freezer.
