Semantic Interoperability of Electronic Health Records: Systematic Review of Alternative Approaches for Enhancing Patient Information Availability

Standardized data content decreased information overload of clinicians. Through data standardization, it was possible to increase conceptualization and, thus, access to data within an EHR regardless of the underlying standards and data structures, by providing a semantic standardized layer to facilitate clinicians’ data use, or by otherwise ensuring complete and coherent information with no errors due to the loss of meaning or context.

Therefore, analyzing specific phenomena or problems using standardized nursing documentation data with SNOMED CT is necessary. This study aimed to (1) standardize the nursing documentation records of patients with COVID-19 using SNOMED CT and (2) identify predictive factors of clinical deterioration in patients with COVID-19 using standardized nursing records.
